Michigan’s bowhunting season opens Oct. 1, and Department of Natural Resources conservation officers are sharing tips for a safe hunting experience.

Recently the Michigan Department of Natural Resources confirmed that at least three wild deer have tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease.
According to Dr. Steve Schmitt, this isn’t as bad as it could be, because all three of these confirmed cases were in the same small area. This means that the deer were likely related, and the reason the disease spread is because they were in very close contact. However, the Michigan DNR is still in need of help from the local hunting community. Continue reading
